Painting in hot weather can cause the paint to bubble or form a film and cause the surface to look rough. Bubbling can also happen when painting in direct sunlight when temperatures are over 90 degrees F. Most paint is made to be applied when temperatures are between 50 and 80 degrees. Popup display

Paintings may be decorated with gold leaf, and some modern paintings incorporate other materials including sand, clay, and scraps of paper.
