the nation's piece on impeachment.

i have not done very much political blogging of late. it is because i find the endless stream of news to be so upsetting. i choose rather to blog about things which i find interesting or which i enjoy. i must say this though-

5 years ago i would not have thought it possible for my faith in our system, or ideals, our leaders, or our citizens to be diminished any further, but i was wrong. as it stands now, in its totality, our country boggles my fucking mind. i am more disgusted and cynical at this moment than i have ever been in my life.

the impeachment of bush would go a small way toward making me feel that things are not totally beyond repair. that there are still ideals we hold to and still laws which the powerful and wealthy are not completely above. but as it stands i do not believe he will be impeached, and i don’t think the culture which spawned him and which he in turn has strengthened will so much as budge. i expect nothing now but bullshit, violence, criminality, religious lunacy, neophobia, and endless decline.

i won’t say anything more about it.
