today i have tried something new and it was fun. i think i’ll have to do it again, and perhaps more times still. if i were a different sort of character i might even begin trying to convince you all that my actions were somehow meaningful, that the result was somehow important. i might begin explaining at yawn inducing length why it was “original.” i might concoct a manifesto with many big words and begin ever after referring to this undertaking as art. i might use exclamation points when i typed it, like this: art!! as it is though i’m not that sort of guy. i’m thinking of what i’ve done as a small homage perhaps or if not that at very least a bit of record keeping.
Cool idea! But the links aren’t working!!!
This has made my day: many thanks for the portrait! Imagine an anachronistic archive.org staffed by thousands of pencil-clutching illustrators furiously drawing & erasing in an attempt to depict the web…
haha. good i’m glad you liked it aitch. was actually a lot of fun.
if i really wanted to take this idea and run with it i’d do an illuminated manuscript type thing, full color, hand done, readable text, etc. could do the “full run” of a site in tome-like leather bound glory, or just do hundreds of front pages. course then i wouldn’t have time to do anything else. i’d have to swear my life over to the idea, living in a wi-fi outfitted monastery, wearing brown robes, and sleeping on a wooden board or something. pencil will do for now.
@sebastian: if you’d stop redesigning your site every 2 days i’d be able to do pcl as well!!!! ;)
jmorrison - Don’t count on it Mr. ....
;-)
But I’m very happy with how it looks for the moment. So maybe….
sweeet! i’ve long wondered why more websites didn’t use hand-drawn backgrounds and elements. it’s very doable and can look damn good.
Now you have become a true journalist and your handdrawing might actually exist longer then any webpage. Paper certainly lasts longer then any hard drive ...
Mr. H told me about this, so I had to come for a look-see!! Brilliant!!!
hey mrs.h! glad to have you. you and your mister are welcome in these parts anytime.
