Gensou Hyouhon Hakubutsukan or the Museum of Fantastic Specimens is an online collection of creatures “curated” by Hajime Emoto. All of the creatures showcased in the museum are sculpted from paper, modeling paste and bamboo. The site is in Japanese but certainly worth a slightly confused browse. Via.

More americana, I’ mafraid. Have you seen this:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/pp/lomaxquery.html
A collection of photos taken during Allan Lomax recording sessions in
Louisiana and the Delta (1930-50). Very handsome black people,
white cajun singers, square dancers, great quality photos with this
kind of ‘soft black’ and sweet grey nuances that are so beautifull. A
testament to the culture of the South. Make it all the more painful
to know how their descendents have been abandonned after Katrina
last year.
I got there via wood s lot.

Nice find Laurent, Wood s lot is great for this kind of thing no? Will have to browse through it later and report back.

The Farrakhan UFO stuff is highly interesting. I’ve always wondered what the original inspiration was for George Clinton’s whole Mothership / Dr. Funkenstein mythology. It seems like he took a comic-book approach to the source material and reworked it completely, tongue in cheek.

As it happens, I listened to Parliament’s Mothership Connection today. What a great record…

Oooh, love the museum. And Babelfish was pretty good at deciphering it for me. Nice find!
