a miraculous discovery indeed!

I can’t express my amazement at this ironic turn of events. I do confess a bit of a sweet tooth, more perhaps than is good to have, and the smell of a bakery is more than I can resist, when the hot dough and cane sugar meld with cinnamon cut from a tree on some far-flung island (try not to think about whose toes the stick was between; you’d rather not know).

normally such an announcement would send me scrambling for ebay seeing if i could snatch up this religious icon. failing that i’d secure a means of travel to the shrine you will undoubtedly construct (it weeps cinnamon frosting right?) but seeing as how it’s muhammad i guess the appropriate fervent reaction would be to riot. (i am now rioting in my living room.)

hey… wait-a-minute! that’s muhammad ali!

thanks a lot tom. nothing’s gonna bring my smashed lamps and shredded couch back you know. now excuse me while i stomp out the fire in my curtains.

it was cruel. i was cruel. what fresh cruelties will i cook up? how about stations of the hot cross buns?

as you must have heard, one version of the origin of croissants is that they were invented in vienna during a muslim siege, so that people could symbolically eat the crescent moon, symbol of islam.

so the pastry wars have been going on for a while.

right now I’m having spinach pie (spanakopita) for din-din. will this make me mighty, like popeye?

as a devout fan of pugilism, and ali in particular, i shall continue the rioting rightly begun by mr. morrison earlier.  the one difference is that i shall leave my living room, where i have burned all of my entenmann’s baked goods boxes in effigy, and take my distress directly to the cinnamon factories of the world….or at least the tri-state area…if there are any.
