anyhow, having looked through all those links i am now officially of the opinion that those seeking to overlay an interesting mathematical curiosity onto every object around them in an attempt to foster greater meaning are silly. the same ol’ same ol’ in fact if you replace mathematical curiosity in the above sentence with something else. wait… did i just say that science is silly? “overlaying on interesting mathematical curiosity onto every object around us in an attempt to foster greater meaning?” i didn’t mean it that way… it’s just this golden section thing is somewhat interesting sure, but why does it need to be called divine? why does it need to have deeper meaning? why does it need to be a sweeping explanation of human aesthetics? i don’t buy it. sorry folks. i mean look at this...this... and this. c’mon now. when i was in the middle of gathering these links rich informed me that these concepts are what the di vinci code is based on. that almost led me to scrap the whole post. then i thought how funny it was. the di vinci code is a novel. a piece of fiction, marketed as fiction, shelved in fiction, and yet people actually debate it’s premise as if it were a real hypothesis. again attempting to overlay and interesting curiosity onto every day life to foster greater meaning… or any meaning, so it actually fits perfectly.
